HOW A LEAGUE TOURNAMENT WORKS : Four to six players band together as a team, and compete in divisions of 4 to 7 teams. Divisions are grouped in ratings sections based on the average of the top four players on the team.
WHEN YOU PLAY: Each round runs from Tuesday 22:00 (10 pm) ICC time through the following Tuesday, same time. Play at a time that you and your opponent agree upon in discussions in the Game Forum at the website. Games typically last 2-3 hours, and can last even longer.
BOARD ASSIGNMENTS: Prior to the start of each round, the captain chooses which four players will compete for the team that week. (So, you must let your captain know if you won't be available to schedule and play in the upcoming week.) Players are then paired with players from the opposing team, based on rating order. The players discuss the day and time to play, via a password-secured message board (Game Forum). In order to keep things moving, there are strict deadlines for making contact and scheduling the game.
ARRANGING YOUR GAME TIME: Log into the Game Forum at Team4545League.org and type a message to your opponent, offering at least three options of game times. You must do this before Thursday 22:00 ICC time to avoid consequences.
AT GAME TIME: Match your opponent with a time control of 45 45 rated, with assigned colors. Set noescape 0. Not allowed: Kibitzing, Takebacks, Moretime, excessive Draw requests, computer assistance, or outside influence of any kind. Enjoy the game!
AFTER THE GAME: The league bot will collect the results and post them in your game forum. If it fails to do that, or if there is any other problem, post a comment for your TD to address.
TEAM SCORING: After each round, the team with the most wins (Game Points) wins the round, and earns a Match Point. After six rounds of regulation play, the team with the most Match Points in each division advances to the Playoffs. Playoffs are single elimination. After 1-4 weeks of playoffs, the remaining team becomes section champion!
ELIGIBILITY: ICC members (non-computers, non-freeweek) with at least 20 standard games are eligible. Make sure your membership will be paid up throughout the 6-10 week duration of the event. Any member who has been found to have previously used computer assistance is ineligible to participate, even if they no longer use computer assistance on the ICC. The Team 45 45 League Computer Use Detection Program examines every League game. Suspicious games are reported to Speedtrap. Other penalties within the league may also be considered.
The Team 45 45 League reserves the right to, in rare cases, make decisions regarding the eligibility of any would-be joiner.
