NEWS 1003 (22-Jun-98)  STC "Anything Goes" Tournament July 4.
The Slow Time Controls Bunch is holding an "Anything Goes" Tournament
on the Internet Chess Club on July 4. Here are the rules and entry info:
1. On July 4 at 1:00 PM STC will sponsor an Anything Goes Tournament.
Computers and Teams are welcome. If you've ever longed to use your
favorite computer in competition, this is the time to do it legally.
You may also get help from Masters, books or any other source.
2. This Tournament is unrated, and you may use computer programs or teams of
advisors. There is a limit of 18 entrants. There will be THREE rounds at
45 minutes with a 5 second increment (45-5). Message MitchW on the day of
the Tournament, only. Registration on prior days will not be accepted. The
time stamp of your message will be used in the selection to conform to the
18 entrant limit.
3. Include in your message to MitchW the name of your computer program which
will be used, its approximate rating, the CPU Speed and the names of Team
members if appropriate. The TD reserves the right to adjust estimated
ratings of computer programs for matching purposes, only. You may, of
course, enter without outside assistance if it is your desire.
4. Enter "+ch 90" to hear Tourney announcements. Use "Observe <player>" to
watch matches. Use "History <player>" to see match results.
5. Message MitchW on July 4 before 1:00 PM to join the Anything Goes
Tourney. You can join as late as Round 2 (with a 1/2 pt. Bonus) if
the EIGHTEEN slot limit has NOT been exceeded. Entrants must be ICC members
and be registered as STC members prior to the date of the Tourney as
evidenced by the STC Roll in possession of MitchW on the Tourney date.

Subject: STC INFO several days prior to the event to join the STC-Bunch
with your time preferences (120-60-90-45-30). Acceptance in the STC-Bunch
is automatic.
7. All rules in the Help file, STC-Rules, apply here except as modified in
this document due to the special nature of this Tourney.
