Memorial tournament for Genrikh Chepukaitis (SmartChip)

On Sunday, October 17, we will have a blitz tournament on ICC in
memory of Genrikh Chepukaitis, who died last month at the age of 68.
Though he did not have a FIDE title, Chepukaitis was known in Russia
as a top-flight blitz player, winning several times the blitz
championship of Leningrad / St. Petersburg, and often besting such
greats as Mikhail Tal and Viktor Korchnoi. Chepukaitis was an avid
ICC player, playing over 27,000 blitz games under the name "SmartChip".

The tournament will start at 11:30 a.m. New York Time on October 13.
It will be a blitz tournament, naturally: 3 0 time control, 11
rounds Swiss, run using Tomato. To encourage participation by
members of all strengths, we will give 1-month membership extensions
to the top finishing player under 1600, under 1900, under 2200, and
to the overall runner-up. The winner will receive 2 months. For
class prizes, the same restrictions apply as in the bimonthly
Championships (help Championship).

Speaking of Championships: Congratulations to the winners in the
15 0 of October:

Open: JonLudvig
U2000: FORBESVARIATION
U1600: BIRDSMAN.
