Usernames (or handles or nicknames) start with a letter, and can be almost
any combination of UPPER case and lower case letters, and numbers.
You can also have one "-" in a username. Usernames are limited to 15
characters.
When you register, please choose a username that you will be happy with.
You can do a "who" to see the usernames of people logged in, to get some
ideas for your own username.
Some combinations of letters and numbers are not allowed, because they
look confusing. The program will tell you when you try to register
the username. ICC reserves the right to delete any username that ICC
considers to be rude, and any username using the name of a famous
chess player (unless you are that player!).
Username Changes:
We cannot "change" your username. We cannot transfer ratings, histories,
finger notes, etc. to a new username. You can, however, create a new
username by following these steps:
2) Pay for the new username as described in help fees, OR
Request to have the remaining time transferred from your old
username to your new username. Pay the $10 transfer fee by any of the
methods described in help fees other than the "extend" command.
"extend" cannot be used to pay the fee. Be sure to include your
old and new username and an explanation with your $10 fee, and send
them to BrianSP.
Please note: This $10 fee applies to all membership time transfers, full or partial. For instance, if you have X months remaining on your current account, and wish to transfer some number of those months to a new account so you have two accounts, you still must pay the $10 fee just as you would if you wished to transfer all of the membership time to a new account.
