Main Story Final Four Weekend

The Black Lion
Internet Chess Club brings you a weekend of live top U.S. Final Four chess for you to view - the 2009 U.S. State Champion of Champions final, and the 2009 President's Cup, the Final Four of College Chess.

University of Texas at Dallas hosts the top four USA Schools from the 2008 Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championship, who will battle it out for the 2009 President's Cup: The University of Texas at Dallas, The University of Maryland (Baltimore County), The University of Texas at Brownsville and Stanford University.

This event is sponsored by the U.S. Chess Federation with support provided by the U.S. Chess Trust. There are some top rising stars in action, and you can download the official brochure with player bios by clicking here. Play gets underway 11:00 a.m. ET on both Saturday and Sunday, April 4th-5th.

Main Story U.S. State Champion of Champions

Also on April 4th-5th, its the Final Four of the U.S. State Champion of Champions, with the overall winner claiming a round-trip ticket and final qualifying spot for the 2009 U.S. Championship, hosted by the Scholastic Center and Chess Club of St. Louis, Missouri.

After last week's four qualifiers, the following meet each other in the semifinals: Sam Shankland (N. California) vs. John Bryant (S. California) and Mackenzie Molner (New Jersey) vs. Ronald Simpson (North Carolina).

Play gets underway on ICC on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 3:00 p.m. ET.

Tuesdays: Chess Talk with IM John Watson

John Watson Show Tune-in for Chess Talk with IM John Watson on ICC Chess.FM. John's weekly 60+ minute show will feature an interview with leading chess personalities. All shows run on demand for members after airing.

This week (Tue., March 31), in a special two-part show, John will be joined by former three-time British champion and Scottish No.1, GM Jonathan Rowson.

After a period of nearly 60 years without a Scot winning the British championship title, Jonathan shot to fame on the back of three back-to-back titles from the period 2004 to 2006.
