There's a bit of a rivalry brewing between Magnus Carlsen and Vladimir Kramnik.
Both are the in-form players of recent months with Carlsen winning the Nanjing Grand Slam event in China and Kramnik the Tal Memorial last month in Moscow.
But Carlsen totally outplayed the former world champion when both met in the opening round of the London Chess Classic at Kensington Olympia, as the young Norwegian ace beat the Russian with a beautifully controlled, positional squeeze to set the early pace - and at www.chessclub.com, Chess.FM has a not-to-be missed 23 minute video of Carlsen's own live analysis of the game.
Kramnik bounced back though from his opening round setback with two successive victories. He's now just 1pt behind Carlsen, who leads at the midpoint with 7 pts (there's a soccer-style scoring system of 3-1-0), as the top two start to put distance between themselves and the rest of the pack.
Chess.FM has had record numbers tuning-in to follow all the action at the London Chess Classic - but Saturday's round 4 could well see a record sellout crowd here on ICC, as Carlsen faces US Champion Hikaru Nakamura!
Play gets underway at 9am ET, and Chess.FM will have commentators WGM Jennifer Shahade and IM Andrew Martin bringing you all the blow-by-blow action of what could turn out to be "The Thriller in Olympia", as the two big ICC favorites clash. So join us here on ICC for a ringside seat.
And to commemorate this exciting new super-tournament, Chess.FM is now showing for free all of our GOTD videos below plus two recent Chess Talk shows featuring the London Chess Classic organizer IM Malcolm Pein and competitor GM David Howell.
