Tournament Times Check-in here for NH Chess

The 2010 edition of the popular Rising Stars vs. Experience NH Tournament, in collaboration with the Monaco-based Association Max Euwe and NH Hoteles, will take place 12th-22nd August at the Grand Hotel Krasnapolosky in the heart of the Dutch capital Amsterdam.

The 'Experience' team won last year and look determined again for a repeat performance with a stronger line-up of Boris Gelfand (Israel) Peter Svidler (Russia), Peter Heine Nielsen (Denmark), Loek van Wely (The Netherlands) and Ljubomir Ljubojevic (Serbia). But seeking revenge also with a strengthened squad is the hungry young 'Rising Stars' team of Hikaru Nakamura (USA), Fabiano Caruana (Italy), Wesley So (Philippines), Anish Giri (Netherlands) and David Howell (England).

This Scheveningen team tournament also has the added attraction of the highest-scorer in the Rising Stars team receiving an automatic invite to the 2011 elite Amber Blindfold and Rapid Tournament in Nice, France. Last year Jan Smeets of The Netherlands was the surprise package to win the hot-ticket to Amber - which of Nakamura, Caruana, So, Giri or Howell will it be this year?

And after its summer vacation, Chess.FM is back on the air for you to find out! Play gets underway each day at 7:30am ET (last round 6:00am), and Chess.FM will have daily commentary with Mig and the GM team of Joel Benjamin, Larry Christiansen, Alex Yermolinsky, Jon Speelman, Nick de Firmian and Ronen Har-Zvi. And in a partnership with the NH Tournament, the Chess.FM commentary will also be relayed to non-ICC members on the official NH Tournament site

Also coming to you direct from Amsterdam will be the dynamic duo of Macauley Peterson of Chess.FM and Peter Doggers of Chessvibes, with both providing us with exclusive video coverage of the tournament. Check-in now at the official site at www.nhchess.com.

Free GOTD from NH Tournament

Chess.FM will also be offering all of our Game of the Day wrap-up videos from the NH Tournament free to view - so even if you are not an ICC member, YOU can also play and win the New In Chess trivia contest, where each day a lucky winner will receive a one-year subscription to the world's best chess magazine.

So get set for double the action both at www.chessclub.com and www.nhchess.com with our exclusive coverage of the NH Tournament from Amsterdam,

The global economic downturn has hit the 17th Mainz Chess Classic, running 6th-8th August. The festival has been downgraded this year to just the Grenke Rapid World Championship Open along with simuls by World Champions Viswanathan Anand and Alexandra Kosteniuk.

The top seeds in contention for the uberstrong Grenke Rapid World Championship Open (7-8th August) include Aronian, Grischuk, Shirov, Movsesian, Kamsky, Kasimdzhanov, Bologan, Inarkiev, Bareev and Zvjaginsev.

Live ICC coverage starts 8:00am ET on Saturday and 5:00am ET on Sunday.

Tournament Times Featuring Chess.FM

One of the great benefits of ICC (apart from all the top-notch online play and tournaments) in recent years has been the upgrade in our Chess.FM service - many members agree that the live Chess.FM commentary and GOTDs from our elite tournament coverage alone is worthy of their membership fee. As a member you have access all through the year to our regular weekly shows: Ronen's Opening Survey (Mondays), Chess Talk (Tuesdays), Attack With LarryC (Wednesdays), Boris Alterman's Gambit Guide (Thursdays), Joel Benjamin's Game of the Week (Fridays), and Dan Heisman's Improve Your Chess (Saturdays).

And for non-ICC members to tune-in to one of the most popular Chess.FM regular weekly shows, we have made John Watson's show free for you to view to find out exactly what you are missing by not being a member of ICC!
