At the end of the eight round the Rising Stars scored a second successive victory over the Experienced team to increase their lead now to four points. With just two rounds of play left in this enthralling contest of the generations, the score now stands at 22-18 in favor of the Rising Stars.

But the final rounds could well see some serious fighting to come to see just who of the top scoring Rising Star team gets that coveted ticket to next year's Amber Tournament. The young Dutch star, Anish Giri, after blowing away veteran Ljubo Ljubojevic in round eight (see Alex Yermolinsky's outstanding GOTD video below), is on 5.5/8 and now leads Hikaru Nakamura of the US by just half a point - so expect lots of weekend fireworks from those two in the battle for that race!

Play gets underway on Saturday at 7:30am ET with Sunday's final round starting at the earlier time of 6:00am.
