#1 in the World and Russia! The Tal Treat

It's not just the chess fraternity that is honoring the late, great Mikhail Tal this year, in what would have been his 75th birthday: the Riga City Council recently named a street in the Latvian capital after the "Magician from Riga".

Meanwhile at the Tal Memorial in Moscow, its not so much a a street as a treat we're getting with some amazing games that even Tal himself would have approved of - none more so than at the end of what was an exciting round three, that saw wins from Peter Svidler, Sergey Karjakin and Levon Aronian; and a truly remarkably complex duel between Magnus Carlsen and Vladimir Kramnik that ended in a draw.

Alex Yermolinksy's Game of the Day choice though for the round was six-time Russian Champion Svidler's win over Hikaru Nakamura, as the US #1 found the going tough as he was caught in the crossfire of the former's favorite Grunfeld Defense.

After three rounds, there's a four-way tie at the top between Aronian, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Carlsen and Karjakin all on 2/3; whilst at the opposite end of the table, Boris Gelfand, the world championship challenger, finds the going tough follow successive loses, and is deep in the cellar on just half a point.

As predicted, this highlight of the elite calendar is turning into a classic! So why tune-in for the remaining rounds with ICC's extended live coverage of the Tal Memorial each day on Chess.FM! Just sign-up today for ICC by clicking here and catch all the move-by-move action as it unfolds with hosts GMs Yasser Seirawan & Ronen Har-Zvi and their team of grandmaster sidekicks of Alex Yermolinsky, Larry Christiansen, Gregory Kaidanov, Suat Atalik, Robert Hess and David Smerdon.

We'll also have the daily trivia live on the show for membership prizes of one and three months and the Game of the Day (hosted by Alex Yermolinsky) trivia each round with the chance for an ICC member to win a 1-year subscription to New in Chess magazine each day!
